Not what you'd expect to find a few miles of out Edinburgh and it's many documented attractions but located in a side street south of Edinburgh a small piece of the Wild West exists. I asked the local taxi driver what he knew about it and answered never heard of it son, and whether I'd been on the 'cooking juice'. I wasn't too hopeful after he dropped me on the main road and made some comments about 'ye'll nae need a taxi back you can ride one of the horses.
After a short 360 'I'm not a local' walk around I saw the right street name but didn't hear any sign of gunshot, wild west saloons or clatter of horses but did see an amazing selection of faded store fronts which looked as if I had been transported 3500 miles away to an American cowboy town.

I was concerned at the silence , where was the sheriff , was a gun duel about to happen.
I heard a faint sound of clanking, the blacksmith was busy. This turned out to be the local garage who like a few other businesses and private accommodation use the street but have kept the facade reasonably in tact although they remain untouched which gives the street an even more ghost town-like atmosphere

Not quite so romantic the Cantina door is the fire exit for The Morningside Library.

It came about as an advertising gimmick for a South Western Furniture Company in the mid-‘90's who have long since gone out of business. But if you ever want to experience a small south-west US Cowboy experience then a £6 cab ride south of Edinburgh get's you the Sheriff's badge for half hr or so.
